  • Projects

I’ve collected all the currently finished Buried Aeons projects here: https://buriedaeons.neocities.org/

I’m still think about how I want to structure it, so this will probably change. But for now it’s over there 🙂 .

  • A new purpose

Last year this website hosted a treasure trove of fantastical magical items. The coming time the site will instead be used to showcase new exciting projects created under the ‘Buried Aeons’ umbrella.

I’ll be updating the website and maybe the archives a bit, but all the items will remain where they are.

So please keep having fun with those and hopefully you’ll have fun with the coming Buried Aeons stuff too!

  • A Year in Magic Items

Phew. So that was it. An item a day for a year. I have to say, some days were harder than others and especially at the end life really got in the way. But I’ve learned a lot and more importantly had a lot of fun thinking of the items.

I have some plans to continue using the website and the mastodon account, more on that later.

For now have a great 2025 and may all your rolls be 20’s!

  • Fated Firecracker

This rare ceremonial pyrotechnic is the brainchild of the twin-brothers Wheal and Whoe who had parents that thought they were very funny. Wheal became an artificer of some renown and Whoe a pretty good wizard. But combining their abilities is where they really stood out, such as with this firecracker.

If you launch this firecracker as an action, roll a d100.

1-15 – Time for some cool fireworks! You cast Pyrotechnics

16-30 – You cast a cool fireworky-type spell: you cast Fireball at a target of your choosing. You can make it so it doesn’t do any damage.

31-45 – You try to cast a cool fireworky-type spell but you flub a line due to your slightly intoxicated speech. You summon a Fire Elemental that you can control on your turn.

46-60 – Everyone feels like they just drank a glass of champagne. They are slightly tipsy but have regained 3 of their highest spell slots. If they don’t have spell slots they gain their proficiency score in max. HP dice of temporary HP.

61-75 – Your fireworks are so pretty even the Fey take notice. You cast Conjure Fey.

76-90 – Weal or woe? You decide and either Divine Word is cast upon all enemies in range or Mass Heal upon all friendlies in range.

91-99 – You wonder what the future has in store for you. You gain Foresight.

100 – You don’t wonder. You decide what the future holds. You cast Wish.

  • Bottle of Auld Lang Wyne

It is good to practice among many cultures to deliberate the past months, and longer hence, at the end of a year or season. Specialty beverages are brewed for such occasions, such as this one. This ruby-red wine is stored in a green bottle with a simple but elegantly written label.

Upon drinking it you get the urge to reminisce with your friends about loves lost and ventures not undertaken, before boasting about your recent exploits and upcoming adventures. The melancholy mood gives you advantage to any checks having to do with things in the past.

  • Armband of Ancestral Adjuration

These types of armbands were made by highly skilled wizards, primarily for noble families known for their prowess on the battlefield because for them they worked best. And they could afford the hefty price to create these items.

In the hands of the right person it’s a formidable item: as an action it will call upon one of your ancestors to aid you, usually in battle, for 1d4 minutes. The ancestor is the same level that you are, but you can confer with the DM which class they should be and which stats to use. You play them as their own character on your turn.

The armband has one charge that takes 1d4 moments of revering or praying to your ancestors to restore it. You can pray once a day in this way.

  • Emblem of the Eager

Some people are always there at the front of the pack: some are naturally curious, driven by their instinct to figure out all there is to know about the world around them. Others are after honor or reward. Whatever their reasons, this emblem will help them be the first in line, at least in any combat situation.

When wearing this emblem you can roll an extra d10 when rolling for initiative. It has one charge and recharges daily at dawn’s first light.

  • Reflector Unexpector

The light blue velvet traveling cloak is thick and always seems to warm or cool you to just the right temperature. It’s passive magical capabilities however is what this rare garment is really known for: if you are the victim of a surprise attack this cloak will magically reflect the attack back upon your attacker.

Whether this is a melee, ranged or magical based attack doesn’t matter. Once expended, the cloak will recharge after 1d4 very expected things have happened to the wearer. You will have to convince the DM of these things!

  • K’nea-per-djee

These crispy treats are usually baked as a festive family activity; they are made from a thin sheet of sweet dough that’s rolled up into a cookie cylinder. You can fill them with all kinds of creamy goodness and covered them in icing and sprinkles. Usually they are handed out during the end of the year festivities.

If you pack some as a snack you can of course also eat them on the road. They act just like a Potion of Health, plus they have the effect of giving you advantage on History checks due to the nostalgic mood they put you in.

  • Egg Knocc

The egg is decorated festively: it’s painted red and green with white zig zag lines and dots. The vilagers told you you use it in the local festivities: you all run around a huge pine tree that’s decorated with streamers, balls and lights.

You throw the egg at people’s head while screaming egg knock! If you have a headache you can stop and have some heated spice wine.

The egg is a throwable “unarmed strike”. You can throw it as a bonus action.
